Did China just receive its first LNG cargo from Russia’s sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project? The Arctic Mulan vessel arrived this morning to the Beihai regas terminal in southern China.

Arctic Mulan made a stop by at Russia’s Kamchatka LNG storage terminal before heading to China. If confirmed, this would be the first ever commercial sale from Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 project… and remains to be seen what sanctions would it trigger.

What is your view? Is China starting up LNG imports from Arctic LNG 2? What could be the implications on the buyers, considering the sanction environment? What could this mean for the Russia-China gas relationship?
